Chalet Titania, La Tania
From £ 369 PP (For 7 Days)
La Tania, France
Last Update: April 14, 2020
Overview

Chalet Titania is located just across from the Folyeres (blue) piste returning to La Tania – it’s not quite ski-in/ski-out as you have to walk across the road but it’s very close.  Nestling in the forest, just a few minutes walk from the village, the chalet also has easy access into the village centre for nightlife and shopping and is close to the village centre for that apres-ski drink.

Chalet Titania has a spacious, open plan living area with the ambiance of a traditionally built log-cabin to give a homely feel around the welcoming fireplace.  There’s plenty of room to sit and relax at afternoon tea time or you could make use of the outside hot-tub facility with it’s bubbles and jets to soothe away the aches and pains of a hard day’s skiing

The six bedrooms are all twin rooms and all have en-suite facilities with shower, WC and washbasin – two of the rooms also have a bath.

Attached to one of the twin bedrooms, the chalet also has a family annexe which shares the bathroom facilities of the main room and has four single beds and an optional cot – this “suite” is ideal for families and the annexe room is offered at reduced child prices.  There are no surcharges if the annexe room is not fully occupied – it just gives us the flexibility to cope with families with more than two children (minimum occupancy is 2 adults, 2 kids).  This suite is also good for groups of families with several children as it could accommodate 6 kids in total in a “den” for them all to be together …. while the parents enjoy the solitude of the other twin rooms.

Guests can now enjoy a good nights sleep in our newly fitted Hypnos beds, world renowned as the ultimate in sleep indulgence.

Meals

Our menus are the same in all of our catered chalets – we believe that the standard of the food is too important for the chalet staff to decide so we don’t give our staff a budget and leave it up to them to cut corners!  The menu is set at the beginning of the season and all staff are trained by us how to prepare every meal – you are therefore guaranteed that the food will be of the same standard, no matter which chalet you choose.

The main menu is identical wherever you go so even in our lower priced chalets, you won’t go short of good quality food.  We generally don’t employ professional chefs as we prefer to train our own teams in our way to our high standards.  We want to see left-overs on our tables – or you haven’t had enough to eat.  In today’s economic climate, the cost of eating out in resort has increased but our guests have no need to do this except on the chalet couple’s day off  ….. the breakfast table is loaded with as much as you can eat and when you return from skiing there is another loaded afternoon tea table so you leave us well stocked up for your day’s skiing and an expensive lunch is not necessary as you can eat your fill when you come back.

Our breakfast has got to be one of the best in the Alps!  We are famous for our fantastic traditional full English breakfast, available every day except for the chalet hosts day off – proper back bacon and traditional Irish sausages Heinz Baked Beans imported from the UK go together with the eggs cooked to order, mushrooms, tomatoes, fried bread to ensure our guests are served the ‘real McCoy’. But of course it isn’t just the cooked option – we also serve freshly baked in-house French bread (sourced from the same suppliers as the local bakeries, but baked in the chalet to ensure it is always warm and fresh!), jams and spreads, cereals, muesli, natural yoghurt, fresh fruit – and of course orange juice, tea and coffee.  In our premium chalets, there are also freshly baked croissants to add to the choices.

And when you return from skiing, our afternoon tea will satisfy those hunger pangs with more freshly baked French bread and freshly home-made cake in plentiful supply – not limited to one piece per person so no need to make sure you’re first back from the slopes!  For those who prefer the low-carb option, apples and oranges are available in the fruit bowl.  Our afternoon tea is served by our staff so fresh supplies are readily available whenever you return and the service continues throughout.

Dietary Requirements

We can cater for all types of special dietary requirements – including vegetarian, gluten free, lactose-free, nut-free and child menus with many products imported from England to suit the tastes of the British kids.  These menu variations are also standard throughout the company so even these are not left to chance – for some special dietary requirements there is a small supplement to cover the additional cost and complexity of the requirement. Supplements are currently:

Adult meals for children under 13 who have paid a child price – £100 (children must then eat at the adult meal time)
Vegetarian, no red meat, no fish, no pork, no lamb – free of charge
Diabetic – £10 supplement
Gluten free – £30 supplement
Dairy free – £30 supplement
Vegan (Dairy Free Vegetarian) – £50 supplement
No alcohol – non-alcoholic drink alternatives are provided with the evening meal for the person who does not drink – free of charge, but you need to let us know your choice from our non-alcoholic list in advance (so we can ensure their are sufficient supplies of your preferred drink in the chalet for you)
If you have any dietary requirements which do not fall into the above “standard options” then you need to discuss these with us and we will do our best to accommodate you!
Wine

We serve bottled wine which is of a good standard – a choice of red, white and rose served throughout the evening meal. The complimentary wines for this coming season are as follows:
Chemin des Pins Sauvignon Blanc – sometimes you just want a light, crisp white to glug down easily by the glass (or bottle) – this is just the job.
Rare Vineyards Blanc de Blancs – this is uber-refreshing, tangy, lemony and fresh. Dangerously moreish and incredibly versatile.
Domaine Montplo Rouge – a lovely light-to-medium-bodied southern red, with ample aromas and flavours of blackcurrant and red berries.
Rare Vineyards Carignan – bright, juicy, soft-hearted red from the South of France made from the peppery Carignan grape.
Montgravet Rose – a lovely ‘blush’ rose from the southwest of France rammed full of fresh berry flavour and a reassuring acidity.

Beer and Wine Upgrades

If you would like to enjoy wines outside of the dinner time, or you prefer beer to wine, then we have offer a comprehensive upgrade service where you can purchase from a wide choice of wines and champagnes, or try out our NEW Craft Beers product (see our blog for further information on this).  These must be ordered by special order in advance of your holiday – please ask us for details.  We also have a standard cash minibar in each chalet which is continuously stocked with Kronenburg beer and soft drinks – you can also purchase additional bottles of the standard wines above for consumption outside of the meal.

Chalet Day Off
On the chalet couple’s day off (one day in the middle of the week), a buffet breakfast will be available for you to help yourselves – the only day of the week when the Full English option is not available.  The resort managers and other chalet staff will be around to make sure you have all you need and to clear up and set the table for afternoon tea – although your chalet couple are away for the day, the resort managers will be available if you need anything.  In the evening, you can try out one of the local restaurants – we have the menus in the chalets and our staff can help you make your choice and book you a table.
Our menus are not fancy and complicated – they are based on normal home cooked food but with the professional touch of our chefs and our own stringent high standards. This way we ensure that most options suit the tastes of most people and the staff are more than capable of producing perfect results every time.
